Simply Inspired CTMH Blog Hop - Hand Crafted Holidays

Welcome to another Simply Inspired CTMH Blog Hop.  Our focus this month is Hand Crafted Holidays.
If you have come here from Bren Yule's blog you are on the right trail.  If you should get lost along the way you can hop over to Dana's blog to get a complete list of bloggers.

This month I wanted to do something with Rosette's, did you see the tree on the front of the Holiday Gift Guide?  So I decided upon a wreath.

This Frosted wreath is large, approximately 17" across. I cut a 15" base out of cardboard, then covered it with cardstock, but that doesn't show.

The rosette's are all cut from the Artiste Cartridge on page 55, at 2 1/4" which is as large as you can go. Not only does the cartridge cut them for you, it also puts in little hash marks for folding them, very cool!   I cut 10 strips of each pattern because I used 15 rosette's on my wreath. Because I wanted a little smaller base, I then cut the strips down to 2" for the 12 large rosettes and at 1 1/2" for the 3 smaller rosettes.  This would give me a 4" rosette for the large ones and 3" rosettes for the small ones when folded.

Tip on folding the rosettes:  I fold all the hash marks towards me first, so I can line up the sides evenly, when I am done I go back and fan fold them easily.

The snowflakes are made from Champagne and Colonial White cardstock and are cut on our Artbooking cartridge.  Add some glitter and sparkles and you have some pretty snowflakes.  I hung 3 double sided snowflakes with Slate Bakers Twine in the center.

My wreath will hang on a wall for the Holidays. It's light enough to use those damage free Hanging strips.

Thanks for stopping by, leave a comment if you like or if you have a question.

Look for more ideas at Brenda Rose's site.  She does the most fabulous things!

Tea Light Gifty

Have you played with our new Washi tape?  I used the new Sparkle and Shine Washi Tape from the Close To My Heart, Holiday Gift Guide to cover the sides of these simple tea lights.  The sides measure 1/2" which is the size of 2 of the tapes, the Juniper is 1" so I just cut it in half.  I made the box bottom from a 4 1/2" square of White cardstock, and the top from a piece of Sparkle and Shine B&T paper. There is a piece of B&T on the bottom of the box too, see the Slate houndstooth print in there?  I cut out the center with my paper trimmer, leaving 3/4" on each side in the center section.  I then cut a 4" square of acetate for the center.  I made the bellyband from Ruby cardstock and finished it off with a White Snowflake border from our Artiste Cricut Cartridge that I pieced together on CCR. For the snowflake I used the new Artbooking Cartridge to make a triple snowflake, White, B&T patterned paper and topped it off with a Ruby snowflake.  In the center I stuck a beautiful Pearl, also CTMH but discontinued.  The tag was made with the Artiste Cartridge and stamped with Perfect Fit Holidays stamp set in Ruby and Slate inks. A little bit of Slate Bakers twine in a bow completes the box.

Album Retreat Roomie Gift

This year I attended the Close To My Heart Album Retreat in Salt Lake City.

My roommate was Nancy,  we always best time together.  I wanted to make her something special and knew that the Sarita Paper would work wonderfully in an album for her.  This album was inspired by one I had seen at convention, but I don't know who made that one.

This Kraft album is so easy to work with and affordable for any occasion at only $5.95.  Mine has 9 pages but I think it could hold several more even with more embellishments.

The pages were cut with the cricut using our new Artbooking Cartridge. Preset the cartridge to cut at 8" and easy as pie I cut all the pages without changing anything, love how this new cartridge works.. I used various CTMH stamp sets and accents as well.

If you are interested in any of the items listed in pink you can click onto the item to get more information.  A new party will open on Nov 1st and you can join in.

Holiday Gift Guide Blog Hop

Welcome to my first ever blog hop.  The purpose of this hop is to introduce you some of the new product in our Holiday Gift Guide, available October 15th now through December  31 (or while supplies last).
It's a circle of CTMH consultants who want to share some special artwork with you.  If you have come here from Carolyn Johnston's Blog, you are headed on the right path.  If you get lost along the way you can find a complete list of the participating consultants here.

It's super easy to hop along with us - just click on the link at the bottom of this post to see what is next.

This Treat Box Card was made using the new
Sparkle and Shine Paper Packet.
It's a fun way to give a little sweet gift along with the card.  In the box are 5 Hersey Nuggets each wrapped in our great B&T paper.  The stamp set used for the sayings is from the Stamp of the Month for this month and available only until Oct 31.

Close To My Heart Products used are:
X7176B Sparkle and Shine Paper Packet
A1149 Trim the Tree stamp set
Z1910 Sparkle Holiday Shapes
S1310 Scandinavia Wishes Stamp of the Month, available only until Oct 31.
Z1851 Scallop Border Punch
Z1732 Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon
Z1906 Artbooking Cricut Cartridge
Z1686 Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge
Z2170 Ruby Stamp Pad
Z1471 Ruler
Z1114 Piercing Tool Kit
Z1514 Tombow Adhesive
Z1151 3D- Foam Tape
Various Clear Sparkles

Non CTMH Products
5 Hershey's Nuggets

The template for this treat box came from Splitcoaststampers, Treat Box Card.  I cut the opening using Cricut Craftroom.

Post it Note Holder
This second item I wanted to show you that the Sparkle and Shine Paper Packet can be used for something besides Christmas.  I am sure you have seen Post it Note Holders before using a slanted acrylic frame, but frankly they are really flimsy.  So I decided to use our new Designed Decor Flip Stand, I used the rings to hold a pen, and tied it on so you wouldn't loose it.  This stand is meant to use for a little table top album.  I have one made with Frosted and Huntington papers that you can take a look at.  Anyway, if you decide you don't want to use it as a Post it Note Holder after awhile you can always just make a little album and use it that way too.

Close To My Heart Products used are:
X7176B Sparkle and Shine Paper Packet
Z1896 Designed Decor Flip Stand
Z1906 Artbooking Cricut Cartridge
Z1686 Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge
Z1829 Glitter Paper
Z2170 Ruby Stamp Pad
Z2173 Slate Stamp Pad
Z1335 Licorice Opaques

Non CTMH Product
Gray Chiffon Ribbon
Gray Post it Notes
RSVP Pentel Pen

Now hop on over to Lynn Como's to see her fabulous work.  Visit all the Consultants participating in the hop and get some great ideas for the Holidays and beyond.  Remember most of the items in the Holiday Gift Guide retire at the end of the year, or as supplies last.  You can click here to order directly from my site or contact me at ddd4nier@aol.com.  Thanks for stopping by.

Artbooking Made Easy: School Layouts

Attention, class! As you saw in our opening video, today’s lesson is on how incredibly easy it is to use the school-themed keys of the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge to make great projects. I’ll be your instructor for the next few paragraphs, and I’m all too excited about our topic!

Recall that there are two image-packed keys for every single theme on this cartridge. They’re designed so you can cut several elements for a page without the guesswork—which is simply thrilling!—but that doesn’t mean you should feel stuck using only the cuts from that key on a single layout. You’ll have the most fun when you mix the two! Pages made of images from both keys will be especially unique, and with some creative stamping your projects will undoubtedly be all your own.

Let’s take a closer look at the A+ layouts you just saw in the video.

I love the versatility of our school-themed overlays and photo mats (you’ll find them, and all other scholarly keys, on pages 68 and 69 in the Cricut® booklet). You can do so many creative things with the individual boxes! Take, for instance, the days of the week calendar overlay.

With the linked dial size at 11", you can cut all pieces on this project at the proportions seen here. The photos of this adorable little guy ready for his first day of school are 4" x 6" and 5" x 7". Don’t you love the way the artist who made this layout chose to attach one behind the photo frame, and place the other on top, with a little foam tape for added pop? Another great stylistic choice the artist made was choosing to list school subjects in the empty slots originally meant for the days of the week. It would be just as fun to list names of teachers, after-school clubs, or cherished classmates! Another idea: try cutting away the days of the week to leave seven empty slots that can be used to focus on academic goals, favorite recess activities, or class pets.

You’ll notice that the ruler shape shows up in many places on these layouts, but never in the same way twice. Just by backing it with different colors, angling it in various ways on the page, and even detaching it from its original photo mat, this page’s artist made a very versatile element. What you see here is a ruler cut at the 11" linked dial size, the colors Crystal Blue, Ruby, Whisper, Goldrush, Pear, and Lagoon. How will you take the images you see here and tweak them to fit your tastes? I’m sure you already have ideas spinning . . . and that’s exactly what I hope for!

This layout was also made with the linked dial size set at 11". The right page features an overlay of nine boxes, used here to picture 3" x 3" photos of four adorable girls. Filling the squares with faces of grade school friends would be just as easy, and a fun keepsake for a child to cherish in later years.

There are so many creative things you can do with all of the keys of the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge, and the school-themed keys are top-of-the-class. Now that you’ve seen it in action in our jeanettelynton.com classroom, you can return to your crafting space and do your homework—if you can call something you love this much “work”.

Class dismissed!

HoHoHo Kraft Album

This 8x8 album is made from our new Kraft Album and at only $5.95 it is a fun way to make special gifts.  This HoHoHo album was designed to hold Holiday photo cards that we get each year, but could easily be just a great Holiday Album for your photos this year.  Inside are cardstock pages that have Pear and Partridge papers, a few pockets and great cricut cut outs.

Halloween Layout

Very talented Close To My Heart consultant Mary Thompson designed a darling Halloween layout recently. She used our new Laughing Lola papers and since I have already done a layout using that paper pack I decided to try something else.  Here is the result:

This will be a kit and not a regular workshop.  More information will be included in the email I will be sending out soon.

Decor Flip Stands

These great display stands are so much fun to make.  Nothing is adhered to the stand so you can change it out as often as you like.  It is great to display the latest photos you want to share.
Each of these has 6 pages that were cut on the new Artbooking cartridge .  The pages inside will each hold at least one photo, some more.  If you would like additional photos let me know. The ribbon was colored using our Exclusive stamp pads to match each of the choices.
I will be sending out an email soon with the details.

Cards for workshop

Here are all four of the cards we are doing this month.

In the first two cards I used the stamp of the month and a overlay from Artbooking cartridge.
I used the National Stamping Month butterflies and saying from that, added some bling down the butterflies bodies.
You will learn how to make this easal card and twist tie on the other card.

Email me at ddd4nier@aol.com for more information.

National Stamping Month

I can't tell you how many years ago I started stamping.  I have been with Close To My Heart since 1990 and it was a couple of years before that.  So a long time.  It was embossing that dragged me into signing up to be a consultant.  Wow, our first CTMH catalog was only about 24 pages and only the middle spread was accessories.  Can you imagine?  We have come a long way baby!

This month celebrates stamping and Close to my Heart has a terrific set of stamps for you.
Aren't these great?
A upper and lower case alphabet, that is just fun!
Fun images that cover almost every season
Everyday sayings...

This set of stamps a $47.50 value can be yours for only $10, with a qualifying order of $50 during the month of September.

You can order thru emailing me or my website here.

With your order you also qualify for the stamp of the month, shown below for only $5..

Laughing Lola Layout

I just love the name Laughing Lola.
This layout was made with some of the left overs after I did the Workshops On The Go.  Even after I made the second layout included on the back.
I used the new Make it From Your Heart Vol 2 for the pattern.  Great little idea book for only  $7.95 with both layouts and card patterns.

Artbooking Layout Fun

So this is my first layout using our new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge, chose Surf's Up paper.  I set the dial to cut at 11" and cut the title, the palm tree, the left mat, and the overlay.  Then I wanted the right mat smaller than what cuts at 11" so I put on the Real Dial size function and cut the mat at 9", it will now hold a 4x6 photo!

This cartridge will be available starting on august 1st and I will be happy to order it for you or you can visit my web site to order it.
